As a Procurement Specialist, you’ll draw on your expert knowledge of procurement processes and principles to shape the way our staff source the goods and services they need to look after our special place. You’ll lead the development of key relationships with our teams across the north of our Midlands & East and North regions to ensure the work of the procurement team is supporting our operational and consultancy staff to “Buy Better”. You’ll also lead on several key strategic areas and work collaboratively with the other members of the Procurement team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to develop and deliver our procurement objectives. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. What you'll be doing: Unlike many other organisations, our Procurement Team are not hands-on in the purchase of goods and services. Led by the Head of Procurement, the role of the Procurement team is to ensure our staff have access to fit for purpose systems, processes, guidance, and training to enable them to “Buy Better” when spending over £400m per annum on goods & services. You’ll apply your extensive experience of procurement process and principles to support this objective through the development and management of key strategic areas and subject themes. Who we're looking for: An experienced procurement professional with broad experience in both the hands-on development and delivery of procurement solutions and supporting others to ‘buy better’ within a complex organisation. Adept at developing strong and meaningful relationships at all levels and leading by example to build awareness of and confidence in the work of the procurement team. Excellent planning and programme delivery skills to ensure the successful delivery of our procurement objectives. Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) or equivalent level of experience In-depth knowledge of Procurement; processes, organisational structures, management, methods, practices, tendering, governance, techniques, and contract. Excellent planning and programme management skills. Expert understanding of links between business strategy, procurement, sustainability, supply and demand, and the core concept of whole life cost Knowledge of relevant industry standards / regulations. In-depth knowledge of stakeholder engagement and communication processes, including techniques to influence at all levels, both internally and externally.
