St Kentigern’s Academy is a Catholic secondary school situated in Blackburn serving the west of West Lothian. It is one of three denominational schools in West Lothian. The school has ten associated primary schools, and the current school roll is 1150 students with 92 FTE members of teaching staff.
In St Kentigern’s Academy, we recognise that the curriculum is not only ‘what’ students learn but also ‘how’ they learn. We place an emphasis on the student experience and seek flexibility to ensure that students achieve success in examinations and through personal achievement pathways.
Aims

3. To provide a supportive learning and teaching environment that encourages each young person to develop their full potential academically, spiritually, and socially.
4. To help young people to play a full and active part in the life of their community.
The key priorities for session 2025-2026 are:
1. To further develop our approaches to supporting students' health and wellbeing.
2. Raising attainment for all, particularly in literacy and numeracy.
3. To further develop our curriculum, including improvements in employability skills.
A relevant teaching qualification and registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland is essential. Written approval by the Catholic Church will be required for this position. This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment, and the cost will be met by the candidate.
