Fleet Maintenance Authorisation Officer

U-Drive are looking for an accomplished and commercially minded technician (or equivalent experience) looking to move out of the workshop environment to join the Head Office Fleet Team as a Fleet SMR Authorisations Officer. This is a fast-paced role requiring exceptional communication skills along with a good level of computer literacy which will see the right candidate making strong contributions to the efficiency of the department. You’ll be working a 40-hour week Monday-Friday.
About the Role
This is a pivotal role within the Fleet team, requiring informed decision making in challenging and authorising SMR quotes with a view to ensuring the best value for the company and the best service for the customer. You’ll be liaising with other team members to fully understand the customer issues and having regular contact with garages and workshops nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
Role consists of the following responsibilities but is not limited to:
* Understanding customer vehicle issues and faults
* Initial assessment based on information given of required works
* Liaising with garages and workshops nationwide to obtain quotes for works
* Querying costs and quotes to ensure best value for the business delivered in a timely manner for customer
* Communicating any discrepancies in quotes for works and negotiating appropriate rates while ensuring works are completed promptly
* Updating the team in order that clear and consistent communication is maintained with the customer
* Updating operating systems so that all team members have note of works ongoing and conversations/negotiations in play
About You
* You’ll have a strong Technical Knowledge base, ideally with NVQ L2/3 Mechanic Car/LCV or equivalent
* You’ll be astute and commercially minded in reviewing quotes, understanding appropriate costing for works and labour hours
* You’ll be an exceptional communicator, understanding and explaining why you’re challenging information to hand and explaining your position
* You’ll be a strategic thinker and a creative problem solver, ensuring we are able to always deliver the best for the business and the customer
* You’ll be a willing negotiator in challenging unnecessary works and quotes
* You’ll be competent with Microsoft Office and able to learn relevant operating systems
