Job Description
SUMMARY
The Logistics Coordinator helps ensure the smooth flow of outbound goods between the stages of order intake and dispatch from shipping, including coordinating shipments, assisting with tracking inventory levels, and ensuring timely and accurate delivery by collaborating with carriers and internal teams. The Logistics Coordinator also helps create and maintain tools for compliance with shipping and import/export regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Works on-site in Hastings, Michigan (not a remote position).
2. Works with other staff to coordinate transportation providers to ensure prompt and proper movement of shipments.
3. Provides timely responses to customer inquiries regarding order fulfilment questions.
4. Reviews purchase orders and shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
5. Resolves shipping errors and miscellaneous shipment cost issues.
6. In a professional and collaborative manner, develops and documents processes that make the internal flow of order fulfilment more efficient and organized, and trains others to understand and implement processes.
7. Works with department supervisors and plant manager to ensure work tasks are optimally balanced among shipping personnel to accomplish order fulfillment.
8. Maintains files and other documentation necessary for compliance with shipping and import/export regulations.
9. Uses company ERP system and related external websites (e.g., UPS, FedEx, and other carriers) to track and process shipments.
10. Provides backup support for shipping activities (picking and packing orders, preparing all required shipping documentation such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, etc.).
11. Complies with and adheres to all applicable ISO standards, safety and work rules and requirements, company policies, and governmental laws and regulations.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Work frequently at computer
* Work for periods of time in a non-air-conditioned factory setting
* Alternating walking, sitting, and standing; lifting to 20 pounds with consistency every day
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS
* High school diploma or higher; post-secondary study in business operations/supply chain
* Five (5) years or more of professional work experience working with high volumes of data
* At least one (1) year experience in logistics or import/export operations
* Familiarity with shipping and receiving processes in manufacturing and other industrial settings
* Ability to carry out detailed procedures in a time-constrained environment
* Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-service mindset
* Meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Quick and continuous learner with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
