At weekends, emergency patients from NHS Ayrshire and Arran are also received at UHH. The start date of the reconfigured centralized unit housing all elective and emergency patients from all 3 health boards is August 2021. Although the successful applicant will be based in University Hospital Hairmyres, they may also be allocated sessional commitments to clinics, ward rounds, theatre and other elective vascular activities in either NHS Ayrshire and Arran or Dumfries. University Hospital Crosshouse (20 minutes by car from Hairmyres), University Hospital Ayr (34 miles and 40 minutes by car from Hairmyres) and Dumfries Royal Infirmary (72 miles and 1 hour and 20 minutes from Hairmyres.
