We are looking for a Political Assistant to support our Majority Group Leader, Deputy Group Leader, and Councillors in shaping the policies and decisions that affect Nottingham. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the heart of local government and make an impact on the city's future What You’ll Be Doing: As a Political Assistant to the majority group, you’ll play an important role in helping our majority political group stay organised, informed, and effective. Your work will include: Supporting the Group Leader and other members in making decisions and setting priorities. Carrying out research and providing analysis to help shape Group policies. Keeping track of casework and ensuring it’s moving forward. Helping Councillors communicate effectively with the public and the media. Assisting with events, reports, and training for Councillors. This is a fast-paced, rewarding role where you’ll be able to grow your skills and contribute to positive change in Nottingham. What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for someone who: Has a good understanding of local politics and how local government works. Is comfortable doing research and gathering information to help with decision-making. Communicates clearly, both in writing and speaking. Can work well with a team and build relationships with Councillors and other key people. Can stay organised and handle multiple tasks at once. Can maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
