We are currently seeking a Post-Graduate Civil Engineering Assistant Site Supervisor to join our forward-thinking and growing company in our Leeds office. The role will primarily be site-based, reporting to the Group Engineering Manager. Role and Responsibilities:
* Assisting in supervising highway construction works under the guidance of senior engineers and providing updates to the Group Engineering Manager.
* Supporting the delivery of multi-disciplinary Section 278 Works by ensuring tasks meet required standards and deadlines.
* Shadowing and assisting in on-site supervision/management of the construction team and visitors during Civil Engineering works.
* Providing support in managing multiple Civil Engineering projects, with a focus on learning project management principles.
* Monitoring construction works to understand specifications and compliance requirements, with support from senior staff.
* Collaborating with the Engineering Team to ensure design drawings are correctly followed, providing input where applicable.
* Assisting with sub-contractor supervision, including site inductions and site record management, under supervision.
* Supporting resident liaison activities throughout the project, if applicable.
* Learning to provide technical assistance and problem-solving on site, with guidance from experienced professionals.
* Contributing to desk-based studies related to roads and infrastructure, gaining experience in research and analysis.
* Assisting with site investigations and inspections, under the supervision of senior team members.
* Supporting liaison with local authorities, including helping prepare and submit adoption documentation.
* Helping compile detailed site reports, with a focus on developing report-writing skills.
* Assisting in obtaining 'sign off' for works from adopting authorities and tracking adoption certification progress.
* Reviewing tenders and work quotations to gain insight into the commercial aspects of projects.
* Supporting commercial assessments, valuations, and costing of works, as part of hands-on training.
* Assisting with reviewing or producing CAD drawings, while developing CAD proficiency.
* Participating in maintaining a safe and clean working environment, by learning and enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Building awareness of compliance regulations to contribute to maintaining the company's reputation.
Environment and Working Hours:
* The office is an open plan environment.
* Company core office hours are 8.30 am until 5.00 pm (4:30 pm on Fridays).
Person Requirements:
* Dynamic.
* Self-Motivated.
* Excellent Communication skills.
* Some experience or knowledge in Project Management.
* Technical Understanding and documenting skills.
* Awareness of safety management practices.
* Supervisory and management skills (willing to develop further).
Familiarity with CAD (desirable, not essential).
Understanding of current industry trends.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (desirable, not essential).
UK Driving License (essential).
