Job Description
Here is an opportunity to develop your design skills within a niche area of construction.
It is a role for someone who works best in a relaxed and non-corporate environment. If you are used to somewhere regimented, this will be refreshing!
The challenges in the role make it really interesting, too. Every design will be different, with intricacies and potential problems for you to solve.
You’ll need CAD experience, but it doesn’t matter what you have experience in designing. You’ll initially use AutoCAD and then receive training on their industry-specific software.
You’ll join a small team - currently, there are four design engineers - and work closely with the two business owners, who have years of industry experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate clients’ architectural plans and generate product scheme designs and calculations, ready to be quoted.
2. Liaise with clients over the phone and via email to confirm their project requirements.
3. Produce design proposals and input material take-offs into Excel.
4. Check and process material take-offs for ordering.
5. Generate U. Value calculations and condensation risk analysis.
6. Process material schedules.
Requirements:
1. Strong CAD skills.
2. Strong Excel skills.
3. Good mathematical and geometric understanding.
Here are the benefits: a generous annual bonus based on personal and company performance, annual pay reviews, a 5% employer pension, bike to work scheme, team breakfasts and lunches, a relaxed working environment, flexible working, Friday working from home, and a casual dress code. As the construction industry closes at Christmas, you’ll receive additional days of annual leave between then and New Year.
