We are delighted to offer a fixed-term Specialty doctor post based at Moriston Hospital Emergency Department.
This post is designed for doctors working toward their Portfolio Pathway (CESR) application. It is a Health Board training role aiming to deliver career training and development to doctors in a clear structure with educational support. This post is to commence as soon as possible on a fixed-term basis - length of contract to be discussed and confirmed at interview depending on the requirements for the individual appointed.
You will be allocated an ED Consultant who has personally completed the CESR process as an educational and clinical supervisor to guide you through the process and help you with your portfolio. Your training will aim to mirror that delivered by a higher specialty training programme and utilize portfolio evidence in the same way.
Education in the form of ultrasound, simulation, literature search, critical appraisal & research methodology & radiology are provided in-house with support to attain required provider/instructor status in ALS, ATLS, APLS courses.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will participate in a full shift 24/7 rota of more experienced doctors who provide support to the junior grade at Morriston ED. Dedicated weekly SPA time will be provided in addition to any required specialty training requirements. The average weekly working hours, inclusive of SPA time, will not exceed 45 hours per week.
You will be clinically responsible for the diagnosis, supervision, and management of patients attending the ED.
You will provide initial treatment and assessment of adult and paediatric patients presenting with illness or injury and where necessary arranging for patients to be reviewed or admitted by medical staff from other specialties.
On exceptional occasions, you may be responsible for irregular commitments outside normal hours as necessary for continuity of patient care.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with license to practice
* MB BS or recognized equivalent
* At least 48 months postgraduate experience, including 12 months in emergency medicine or equivalent to UK practice, or evidence of ST3 EM competencies
* Provider status in ALS/ATLS/EPLS
* MRCEM
Experience
* Effective team worker
