Vacancy: Engineering Director Location: UK Job Family: General Engineering The Hydrogen Technologies Engineering Director is accountable for all aspects of engineering leadership, strategy, delivery and improvement in the sector. Accountabilities include capital portfolio planning & governance, manufacturing industrialisation, maintenance standards & performance, equipment reliability & performance and process engineering improvement. Fundamentally this role is underpinned with a non-negotiable focus on a culture of EHS and engineering compliance. Your responsibilities: Ensure engineering processes and capabilities are in place to identify and manage process safety risks, with effective deployment of mitigations throughout the organization. Oversee the capital portfolio for the HT sector, including budget reviews, project delivery plans, investment proposals, and alignment with site and network objectives. Support project delivery with a focus on contractor and construction safety, site facility plans, and embedding manufacturing excellence practices. Define and implement future industrialization strategies for cost-effective manufacturing processes and integrate new engineering solutions. Provide support to sites for New Product Introduction, Process Improvement and OEE initiatives through the Process Engineering function. Align engineering objectives with the HT strategy and business plan, ensuring team performance through leadership and management. Guide process improvement and compliance initiatives, manage energy consumption and carbon impact, promote EHS awareness, and lead the development of a high-performing, diverse team Requirements for the role: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (advanced degree preferred) and extensive experience in operations/engineering leadership with major manufacturing facilities; strong background in specialty chemical manufacturing or similar industries with process technology expertise. Proven leadership in fostering a culture of EHS excellence and building high-performing, engaged, and diverse teams; successful track record in delivering engineering projects and programs on time and within budget. Strategic decision-making ability with or without complete information, and experience in leading and managing effective launch delivery organizations and simultaneous international projects. Strong leadership experience managing internal and external stakeholders, with a preference for experience in early-stage technologies, working across continents, managing remote teams, and developing business cases and budgets for capital projects. Essential personal skills include the ability to influence without direct authority, collaboration, inclusive people management, strong communication and presentation skills, structured planning, customer focus, and entrepreneurship. Demonstrated adaptability, integrity, and change management skills, with a proven ability to work in dynamic environments, apply best practices from large organizations to smaller, agile settings, and lead through various stages of organizational development. Special factors: Regular international and domestic travel as required.
