Salary: Up to £33,000
Our client is recognised as the global leader in the development, design and manufacture of specialised engineering products. This is a great opportunity to work within a dynamic and progressive company. The company is looking for a Buyer to join the team who will be responsible for ensuring goods and services critical to business objectives are supplied in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure adherence to all company policies and prevailing business regulations.
2. Develop sourcing strategies for all categories of spend.
3. Ensure best practice procurement.
4. Work closely with the Planning Department to ensure channels of supply are at the lowest total cost, not just the lowest purchase price.
5. Review the supply base and, in conjunction with the Supply Chain Manager, formulate appropriate Supply Chain strategies.
6. Manage the supply base and ensure alignment with the business strategy.
Duties:
1. Manage the day-to-day Purchasing team operations, in agreement with the Supply Chain Manager.
2. Manipulate Dynamics 365 to maintain optimal availability of product for business needs.
3. Advise the Procurement Assistants on best use of D365.
4. Maintain all relevant cost, lead time and other Supply Chain information on Dynamics 365.
5. Achieve the lowest cost of acquisition across multiple suppliers, categories of spend, and location.
6. Improve Vendor Payment terms in line with ongoing business requirements.
7. Establish Contracts of Supply and Pricing Agreements where applicable for significant suppliers.
8. Identify opportunities for supplier improvements, negotiating these changes in agreement with the Supply Chain Manager.
9. Sourcing and evaluating new/alternative suppliers as part of the business’ continuous improvement philosophy.
10. Establish and maintain good working relationships with the Planning Department.
11. Identify training and development needs for the procurement team.
12. Ensure value-added collaboration between departments, sites, and areas of the business.
13. Deputise for the Supply Chain Manager by attending company meetings, as required.
14. Ensure that processes are carried out to ISO9001 standards.
Experience Required:
1. Minimum of three years’ experience within a purchasing environment, preferably in a supervisory role.
2. Experience working with multiple suppliers and a large number of products.
3. Proficient in the use of MS Office and ERP systems.
4. Experience supervising a team centered around problem solving and product availability.
5. Experience in vendor negotiations.
6. Effective internal stakeholder communications.
