SEN Teaching Assistant
* Full time
* Based in Salisbury
* Temporary role
* 1:1 role
A fantastic opportunity for a teaching assistant, with a wealth of experience supporting students with special educational needs, to join a multi-academy trust, based in Salisbury.
About the role:
You will be supporting a band 5 pupil in a resource-based classroom. The students have specific learning needs, including autism, along with challenging behaviour. You will encourage the student to stay focused and deliver pre-planned activities that will be core subjects, adapted around the curriculum to be accessible for their needs.
About the school:
The school is driven by a powerful ethos which aspires to treat everyone equally and recognises the importance of a holistic approach to education. As well as continuing to build a strong school and deliver a first-class education, it is also their desire to build an interconnected community, recognising that educational needs do not exist in isolation from the needs of the whole person.
About you:
It is essential that you have UK classroom experience prior to your application and a proven track record of providing the best quality of support within the workplace. In addition to this, you must have strong knowledge of SEN and support children with additional needs, either within a SEN, mainstream or residential setting.
The headteacher is looking for someone who is confident to manage behaviour, handle situations calmly and effectively. You must have a genuine interest in working with children and be able to put the well-being of the students at the heart of all you do. There may be situations where you will need to be adaptable to support the team, so always ensure you are enthusiastic and able to take initiative.
