Reporting directly to the Head of Logistics, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product movement from receipt through to preparation for delivery. Operating in one of the largest distribution facilities in Hereford, you will play a pivotal role in delivering world-class customer service. As one of the most senior people on-site, you will balance your time between monitoring business metrics and being on the operations floor, engaging with the team, and proactively managing any situations that arise. The Operations Manager, supported by a team of warehouse colleagues, is responsible for ensuring exceptional service and safety standards, seamless coordination with the Nightshift and Transport teams, and maintaining the facility and equipment in line with statutory requirements. You will develop Supervisors to uphold high standards of service and availability for our customers, driving productivity, cost efficiency, health and safety, and performance targets. You will adapt to changes in volume to ensure timely service for our retail customer base while championing diversity, inclusion, and talent development for future growth. Key Responsibilities: • Lead, support, and develop a team of Supervisors in a fast-paced environment. • Monitor business metrics and engage with the warehouse team to address issues proactively. • Ensure high standards of service and safety throughout operations. • Collaborate with Nightshift and Transport teams to maintain operational synergy. • Set and maintain KPI targets, emphasizing on-time and in-full delivery. • Drive productivity, cost efficiency, health and safety initiatives, and performance metrics. • Foster colleague engagement and support development plans. • Conduct thorough reviews of product quality and address post-delivery issues. • Lead change initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional teams for compliance. Who You Are We’re looking for a candidate with: • Previous management experience in an operations, warehouse, or logistics environment, demonstrating a strong track record of performance and colleague engagement. • Experience in managing change initiatives and a solid understanding of continuous improvement principles. • A full UK driving license and a degree, with ongoing professional development. • Proven experience managing operational budgets exceeding £1 million and overseeing a facility of 120,000 square feet. • Strong skills in stock and inventory management, quality control, and conducting investigations or performance meetings. • Excellent financial planning and budget management abilities, alongside effective presentation and communication skills. • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and familiarity with stock management systems, WMS, and ERP tools.
