We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented logistics professional to join our team as a freight Executive. The ideal candidate will have experience working with freight, with exceptional organisational skills; ensuring that every aspect of our supply chain operates smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Sample responsibilities for this position include;
* Assist in the day to day operations of exporting/importing with an excellent knowledge of Freight Forwarding and regulatory requirements including sea and air cargo
* Schedule the movement of shipments with carriers to the assigned origin and/or destination points and follow up to ensure timely arrival,
* Developing knowledge of the shipping process and government regulations with other team members,
* Coordinate to ensure common objectives are met,
* Support the Logistics Manager to achieve goals while providing recommendations of continuous process improvement,
* Compute amounts, such as weight and volume of goods, space available,
* Processing of documentation for the physical movement of cargo, such as bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, or certificates of origin,
* Verify adherence of documentation to customs, insurance, or regulatory requirements,
* Maintaining an online receiving portal,
* Developing and maintaining an excellent working relationship with internal departments and/or vendors,
* Developing basic negotiation skills,
* Acts as an expediter to resolve delivery problems,
* Determine efficient and effective ways of moving goods from one location to another, including shipping methods, routes, possible consolidation, and rates for goods to be shipped,
* Compute amounts, such as weight and volume of goods, space available, and
* Inform fellow employees and clients of factors such as shipping options, timelines, transfers, or regulations affecting shipments.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the transportation/logistics field working, ideally working directly with freight,
* Prior experience working with an ERP system is a must have,
* Excellent time management. Able to juggle multiple work streams, keeping all stakeholders up to date on progress and timelines,
* Excellent communicator, be able to ensure our shipments are delivered as planned in close collaboration with all partners,
* Build strong relationships and work closely with all teams to enable you to make independent decisions knowing they align with business strategy,
* Be proactive and strategic in considering the needs of all internal business partners,
* Be independent, quality-minded and have a structured approach to tasks,
* Analytical and able to identify potential problems and find solutions,
* Constantly review current work flows and processes to ensure they are fit for purpose and to make suggestions to improve efficiency,
* Strong excel skills with the ability to analyse data and provide actionable insight, and
* Awareness of data protection laws and handling confidential information,
