An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a dynamic, highly profitable and growing company based in Southampton. This business operates on an international scale and the successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the finance function, leading a small UK-based team while ensuring financial compliance across multiple territories. This role offers a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced environment, ideal for a commercially minded finance professional looking to make a strategic impact.\n\nWhat will the Financial Controller role involve?\n\nOversee the finance function, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and financial processes run efficiently.\nSupervise and mentor the finance team, including the Management Accountant and Finance Assistant.\nLead the production of high-quality management reporting, including monthly reporting packs, cash flow forecasts, and individual project profitability analysis.\nTake ownership of the annual budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with company objectives.\nManage cash flow across multiple bank accounts and international locations, optimising fund movements and foreign currency exposure.\nEnsure full regulatory compliance, including preparation of financial statements, tax filings (corporation tax, PAYE, VAT), and statutory audits for both UK and Qatar operations.\nAct as the primary liaison with external advisers, including auditors, tax specialists, banks, and insurance brokers.\nWork closely with board members and senior management to provide financial insights and recommendations for business growth.\nRegularly review and optimise company structures for overseas operations, ensuring the most effective financial arrangements are in place.\nSuitable Candidate for the Financial Controller vacancy:\n\nFully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong technical and commercial acumen.\nProven experience in financial leadership roles, ideally within an international business setting.\nStrong management skills, with the ability to develop and mentor a finance team.\nExcellent communication skills, capable of presenting financial insights to non-financial stakeholders.\nExperience with multi-currency treasury management and financial compliance across different jurisdictions.\nProactive and adaptable, with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.\nStrong IT skills, with the ability to optimise finance systems and reporting processes.\nAdditional benefits and information for the role of Financial Controller:\n\nCompetitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum.\nPrivate healthcare coverage.\n25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.\nOffice-based role in Southampton, providing close collaboration with senior leadership.\nOpportunity to lead and shape the finance function of a growing international business.\nCMA Recruitment Group disclaimer:\nCMA Recruitment Group is acting as a recruitment agency in relation to this role.
