The Opportunity
1. The Senior HSE Advisor will be responsible for the provision of timely advice and guidance on all matters pertaining to Health, Safety and the Environment with respect to Legislation, Company Policies and Client requirements.
2. Support projects to assist in the delivery of the KAEFER UK & Ireland HSE strategy.
3. Provide visibility and interface of the HSE function. Work in collaboration with other members of the team and the wider business to facilitate high performance delivery through successful implementation of processes and systems, in a sustainable manner.
4. Contribute and develop the HSE Assurance Plan to deliver high risk audits across the Energy Division; provide advice and recommendations for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advise and assist site management in the preparation of safety and environmental plans, risk assessments and method statements for varying projects in line with company and client’s KPIs.
2. Provide authoritative guidance on Health & Safety matters to all stakeholders.
3. Develop HSE Strategy for sites alongside HSE Director and Head of Safety reporting monthly on progress.
4. Ensure the site and applicable management is aware of applicable legal obligations and notified of changes in legal process.
5. Work with on-site management in the development, delivery, implementation, and maintenance of HSE policy and company and client’s procedures.
6. Prepare health, safety, and environmental reports as required.
7. Conduct safety and environmental audits and inspections in accordance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) and client’s requirements.
8. Prepare daily and weekly reports for Head of Safety and clients.
9. Conduct loss event investigations and prepare reports for internal and external purposes.
10. Provide HSE advice and direction to on-site management, staff, and contractors.
11. Assist site management in the periodic preparation and presentation of seminars/training for clients, own employees, and other interested stakeholders.
12. Client’s specific HSE documents, responsible for improvement and maintenance in collaboration with client, Head of Safety, and HSE Director.
13. Liaise with Health & Safety Reps / Representatives on a regular basis ensuring consultation and participation of workforce.
14. Lead in promotion of Health, Wellbeing initiatives within region.
15. Drive behavioural culture both KAEFER and client’s change programs.
16. Manage relationship with client’s HSE teams.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
1. Ability to plan, prioritise and organize work.
2. Safety leadership including assuring compliance to statutory requirements.
3. Professional in approach to dealing with issues and employees.
4. Appreciation of confidentiality and discretion.
5. Ability to effectively influence individuals, stakeholders, and groups at all levels.
6. Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and a methodical approach with strict adherence to deadlines.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
8. Excellent information sharing ability and able to adapt to audience.
9. Strong knowledge of HSE law.
10. Experience in construction/heavy industry.
11. Good understanding and knowledge of HSE legislation and codes of practice.
12. Excellent knowledge in hazard assessment and risk reduction methods.
13. Minimum of 5 years in a safety-related role.
14. Experience of dealing with HSE systems, processes and identifying training needs.
Requirements of role:
1. NEBOSH Health & Safety Diploma (or Equivalent).
2. NEBOSH Health & Safety Certificate.
3. Member of IoSH.
4. Environment Qualification – Desirable.
