Job Description
This is an urgent opening for a Solution Architect for a permanent position based in Crawley, England.

Responsibilities
1. Assess business opportunities and recommend the best solution to the requirements.
2. Create reliable project cost estimates of capital and operational expenditure.
3. Provide advice on technical aspects of system design and integration and ensure relevant technical strategies, policies, standards, and practices are applied correctly.
4. Document project technical solution with a Solution Architecture Document and gain stakeholder buy-in.
5. Engage with enterprise and information and software architects to confirm that the solution is consistent with long-term architecture, roadmaps, and information principles.
6. Work with designers to ensure that estimates are accurate and that the solution can be implemented effectively.
7. Create high-level diagrams describing the solution.
8. Participate in project architecture governance reviews when required.
9. Support projects after approval during their delivery phase.
10. Use appropriate tools to contribute to the development of systems architectures in specific business or functional areas.
11. Create cost-effective solutions that meet business needs.
12. Assist project and business assurance staff in preparing technical plans; ensuring that high-level project technical issues are addressed.
13. Create clear concise documentation.
14. Estimate accurately.
15. Match solutions to requirements.
16. Apply technology and process to improve business efficiency.
17. Identify and manage architectural risks.
18. Java and Spring design principles.
19. Effective design patterns.
20. Web service / API integration experience.
21. Broad range of current technologies and architectures.
22. Good IT solution design practice to maintain a PCI compliant architecture.
23. Developing multi-tier, service-oriented applications.
24. Use of Visio to create effective diagrams.
25. Personable and able to work constructively with a wide range of people.
26. Able to explain complex technical issues effectively to non-technical business people.
27. Works to a high standard and creates quality deliverables.
28. Independent thinker able to clearly articulate their point of view and accept other points of view when appropriate.
Experience
1. At least 3 years experience in application architecture or solution design in an environment employing multiple interacting applications or back-end services.
2. At least 3 years experience as a Java designer at some point in career.
3. Working with and creating complex solutions involving multiple interacting applications and services.
4. Experience in the airline, travel or loyalty industries.
