Elm House Surgery & Cator Medical Centre are a large, friendly dual General Practice enterprise operating frompurpose built premises in Beckenham.
We are looking to recruit an experienced Coder & Summariser to complement our existing team.
We offer competitive rates of pay and NHS Pension.
We are looking for hours per week across 4 week days with one day off, to be advised upon application.
Main duties of the job
This role would suit someone whois looking for an opportunity to develop their existing coding &summarising skills as the main responsibilities of the post-holder will be totriage both incoming hardcopy and electronic post, work-flowing to the GPs asappropriate. They will need to code relevant information from patientsclinical records into the practice EMIS web system, working strictly inaccordance with practice protocols, with the highest levels of accuracy andattention to detail.
We are looking for someone who has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and who is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Experience in EMIS Web / Snomed coding & summarising is essential, as is attention to detail, speed and efficiency.

Our combined clinical workforceconsists of six GP Partners/ Directors and 16 Salaried GPs, some of whom workpart-time. We also employ Advanced Nurse Practitioners, a team of seven Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists, Podiatrist, Physiotherapist, a Mental Health Practitioner and HCAs.
Both practices are accreditedtraining practices, with GP Registrars, medical students and student nurses.

Job responsibilities
Duties:-
Opening andsorting the incoming post
To triageincoming electronic and hardcopy post and workflow to the GPs as appropriate
Collating and sorting patient records and letters in preparation for summarising
Reviewing medicalrecords and producing an accurate summary of the patients medical history
Summarisingincoming electronic and hard copy post according to agreed protocols
Read codingmedical information into the practice clinical system
Ensure summarisingof patient notes is accurate and succinct.
Correcting anyanomalies in patient notes as required
Restructuringexisting computerised notes as necessary
Dealing withqueries in relation to coding
Clinical coding ofrelevant information within documents prior to clinical review (Docman triage)
Dailyadministration and coding of incoming OOH/UCC and NHS 111 reports in DocumentManagement in EMIS web and reallocating as appropriate.
Dealing with allEDTs as per practice protocol
Dealing withtelephone enquiries within the practice telephone protocol as necessary.
Communicating withall staff, patients and outside agencies including the NHS England andhospitals as necessary.
To attend anynecessary training courses/sessions.
To be aware of ElmHouse Surgery Health & Safety policies, observing the correct and safeprocedures are followed.
To observe therule of patient confidentiality and be aware of the Data Protection Act.
To adhere to all Practice policies and procedures in addition to conducting annual mandatory training.
To undertake allother duties that may be reasonably asked of you.
