We are looking for a dedicated individual who enjoys working with children to provide waking overnight care to a 6-year-old boy with complex needs within the family home setting.
Applicants will work directly for the family providing overnight waking care for a 9-hour shift. Due to the serious nature of the medical conditions involved, it is essential that you are able to be fully awake and vigilant for the entire overnight shift and feel confident providing life-supporting care to a child. Experience in care is desirable, but other childcare workers will be considered. It is essential that you enjoy working with children and are able to learn new skills.
Your main duties will include:
1. Tracheostomy care and suctioning
2. Ventilator management
3. Medication administration via gastrostomy
4. Personal care
5. Ensuring the child's safety overnight by following the care plan.
Training will be provided.
Current emergency first aid skills and resuscitation training are essential.
Key skills:
1. Interact well with a young child
2. Work sensitively within the family home
3. Communicate well with parents
The position is subject to references and a full DBS check.
You must have the right to work in the UK.
Non-smoker essential.
Shift pattern: 1 fixed weekday night per week or fortnight. Negotiable. 1 night per fortnight minimum.
£15 per hour
9-hour shift: 9pm - 6am
Contract type: permanent part-time
