Principal Clinical Scientist, Lead Physicist for Nuclear Medicine

We are looking to recruit a specialist Clinical Scientist to jointly lead the Nuclear Medicine Physics team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Trust.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will act as a Medical Physics Expert (MPE) in Nuclear Medicine to the Trust and its contracted customers. The ideal candidate will also be accredited by RPA2000 to act as a Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA) or Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) within this specialty, or be on a short timescale to achieving this status.
The Clinical and Radiation Physics team is part of the SEND (South, East and North Devon) Medical Physics network. Clinical and Radiation Physics provides Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation Safety Services across the SEND geographic area to both NHS and non-NHS customers. This position is based within Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter, although on occasion, some work will be expected at the other sites in the region.
This role supports the provision of Nuclear Medicine, Radionuclide Therapies, PETCT and associated radiation protection services to the Trust and others including the University of Exeter. The postholder will be heavily involved in the delivery of Medical Physics services to the Mireille Gillings Neuroimaging Centre where research and clinical work is undertaken by the University of Exeter and Alliance Medical respectively.
Applicants for appointment at band 8b will have appropriate HCPC registration, significant relevant experience and a current certificate of recognition as an MPE and RPA/RWA. Applications are also invited from individuals with less relevant experience who may be considered for appointment at a lower band.
The department encourages staff training and development and is an accredited training centre for the PTP, STP and HSST training schemes. The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported in further professional development, based on their needs and service objectives.
