THE ROLE As a Fire Alarm Engineer, you'll join our dynamic team responsible for maintaining critical life safety systems across commercial and residential properties. You'll ensure compliance with BS 5839, BS 5266, and other relevant British Standards while delivering exceptional customer service. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Install, commission, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems to BS 5839 standards Conduct fault-finding and remedial works on addressable and conventional fire alarm panels Perform maintenance and testing of emergency lighting systems to BS 5266 requirements Service and maintain Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs) and smoke control systems Respond to callouts within contractual SLAs and provide technical support Complete comprehensive fire safety logbooks and certification documentation Manage van stock efficiently and maintain company equipment Stay updated on the latest industry regulations and technological advancements THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE Proven experience in maintaining fire alarm systems Familiarity with major panel manufacturers (Gent, Advanced, Honeywell, C-TEC, etc.) Knowledge of emergency lighting and AOV maintenance procedures Experience with fire extinguisher servicing (preferred but not essential) Understanding of fire risk assessments and compartmentation principles Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail FIA or BAFE qualifications (advantageous) Ventro Ltd values diversity and promotes equality.
