A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.
The Rheumatology Team at UHDB has long held a high reputation for their proactive and innovative work, effective use of cutting-edge technology, and an unparalleled responsiveness to implementing new treatments into the Trust. Working across multiple sites, the team has embraced true collaborative cross-site working, providing exceptional care to patients undergoing treatment in an outpatient and day case unit setting.
As the demand on provision of Rheumatology services is continuously growing, new and innovative ways of working must be sought in order to meet the requirements of excellent patient care. We believe that new innovative posts such as this, which harness the excellent work pharmacy technicians do in supporting patient care, are the way forward, and are strongly supportive of developing our technicians in new and exciting ways.
The successful post holder will work closely with the Rheumatology team as well as the wider hospital teams, providing support within the outpatient Rheumatology service delivery.
The successful post holder will be based at the FNCH site, but may be required to work cross-site.
This is a new role and will be constantly evolving: it is envisaged that the main duties of the role will include
• Working with prescribers and the Homecare team to ensure supply of medication to patients without interruption.
• Liaising with primary care including GPs, nurses and pharmacy teams to support the continuity of care between primary and secondary care.
• Patient counselling on Disease-Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs and Biologic treatments.
• Supporting the team with introduction of biosimilar drugs.
• Further development of the specialist technician role within outpatient setting.
The successful post holder will receive extensive training to undertake these new responsibilities.
If not already completed, the successful post holder will be expected to complete the NVQ level 4 Pharmacy Services or equivalent as part of their development plan
Please read the job description and personal specification attached for full details of the duties of the job.
