Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role located in Workington, Cumbria for a Mechanical and Electrical Shift Engineer. Hours are 48 hours per week, working a mix of 12-hour days and nights to cover the needs of the business.
* Provide hands-on resolution of immediate problems, ensuring continuity of production and limiting waste or damaged products.
* Proactive in identifying and solving problems on the plant to increase reliability and efficiency.
* Keep yourself up to date with best practices and CI initiatives.
* Maintain accurate documentation on breakdowns and repairs during your shift. Utilize the planned preventative maintenance system to ensure all production equipment is maintained as per the schedule of works.
* Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, as set out within Health and Safety at Work, and follow on-site Safe Working Procedures.
* Maintain your own safety and that of others by wearing company-issued PPE and following Risk Assessments for each task due to be completed.
* Communicate effectively with the production manager on realistic timescales for major breakdowns to minimize disruption to production.
Qualifications & Experience
* Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering skills.
* Experience in maintenance, repairs, and installations of mechanical and electrical systems on-site.
* Troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are a must to identify and rectify faults to keep production on track.
* Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures.
* Excellent analytical and communication skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
* Qualified to HNC/BTEC or equivalent in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
* Experience working within the Food Manufacturing industry would be an advantage but not essential.
* Ability to prioritize your own workload to keep up with planned and reactive maintenance work on-site.
