The School
Law is part of York Business School. Our law programme started in 2018 and has developed rapidly; in 2020 we opened York St John Law Clinic, in which students give legal advice and assistance under the supervision of experienced staff. Our LLB, MLaw, MLaw Legal Practice, and LLM Commercial Law and Practice, reflect the changes in the legal education and graduate employment landscape and our own identity. Our teaching emphasises personal and skills development, with a focus on employability. We aim to place law in context to further students’ understanding and develop analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We have high expectations of, and aspirations for, our students and we aim to create engaging teaching and assessment which fosters understanding and develops valuable transferable skills. We pride ourselves in knowing our students as individuals and in offering high levels of personal support.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic new colleague to join our fast-growing school. You will have experience of delivering quality, engaging and innovative teaching. You will have Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or be willing to work towards achieving it within 18 months of your appointment.
Required Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will contribute to all areas of activity within the subject of Law. We would particularly encourage applications from candidates who are able to teach across multiple disciplines in Equity and Trust; Property Law; Conveyancing; Wills and Administration; Environmental law; Media Law; Contract Law; Company Law; Civil Dispute Resolution; Personal Injury, and most of the Law foundation modules.
The successful candidates will be expected to produce high-quality research outputs and/or knowledge-transfer activities, engage with external funding opportunities, and contribute to the research culture of the law school.
This role is eligible for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship subject to UKVI criteria being fulfilled.
It is anticipated that the selection process will include a 10-minute presentation which will be followed by a 45-minute interview. Further details will be sent to shortlisted candidates.
