Job summary Due to retirement we are looking for an experienced, motivated and compassionate nurse practitioner/practice nurse to join our friendly team. The ideal candidate will have 5 years experience in general practice and be able to offer treatment room services as well as having a special interest in diabetes and/or COPD holding ARTP accreditation and a prescribing qualification. Our clinical team comprises 1 GP partner, 4 salaried GPs, 3 nurse practitioners, 2 practice nurses and 2 HCAs who are supported by our dispensary and administration teams. Routine treatment room injections B12; heparin etc. Immunisations and vaccinations Contraception and menopause Minor surgery and punch biopsies Compression bandaging and Doppler studies As part of the nursing team, the Nurse Practitioner will assist with the following services where an HCA or Practice Nurse are unavailable: Venepuncture ECGs Wound assessment and management Assisting & preparation for minor surgery BP monitoring Urinalysis Lifestyle advice to patients, making any necessary referrals Weight monitoring Chaperone Restocking/maintenance of equipment Removal of sutures/clips Training and personal development Training requirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal and will be in accordance with practice requirements. Personal development will be encouraged and supported by the Practice. It is the individuals responsibility to remain up to date with recent developments. Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and maintain Practice Assessor/Supervisor competency. Maintain CPD by attendance at courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary. If it is necessary to expand the role to include additional responsibilities, full training will be given. Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and professional development as well as an up to date Intention to Prescribe. Liaison: As well as the nursing team, there is a need to work closely with Admin, dispensary staff and the wider MDT to ensure the smooth running of the practice. Reporting any problems encountered to the relevant person and ensuring that everyone is aware of the different roles within the nursing team. There is also the need to establish and maintain good liaison with other surgeries and agencies including secondary care It will be necessary to attend and contribute to various Practice meetings as requested as well as quarterly Clinical Supervision within the PCN.
