Would you like to make a real difference to the lives of people with a learning disability? Do you have a passion for all things volunteering? Then we have just the opportunity for you!
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and committed individual to join Mencap as a Mencap Visiting Service Co-ordinator. In this role, you will directly support our Mencap visiting service volunteers, a befriending service to adults with a learning disability within your region. You will be supporting us to deliver a service that creates a one-to-one connection, offers companionship, and encourages people to do the things they enjoy.
As a Mencap Visiting Services Co-ordinator for the London and surrounding counties, you will support all aspects of the volunteer journey for Mencap.
The counties you are responsible for in this region are: London, Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver the Mencap Visiting Service within your geographical area through the recruitment, induction, training, and supervision of volunteers.
* Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities, role profiles, and promote these nationally and locally.
* Provide one-to-one visits for beneficiaries awaiting a visitor.
* Support matching visits between the beneficiary and volunteers and ensure their ongoing relationship is supported.
* Provide ongoing training and development requirements for all volunteers in your area.
* Provide ongoing one-to-one visits to people that MVS visits, who have more complex and multiple disabilities.
* Grow the number of opportunities for volunteers to support our charitable mission.
* Create truly accessible volunteer roles within your region.
* Support projects across the Volunteering Team.
To be successful in this role, it would be ideal to have a background in recruiting and managing volunteers/staff, or experience of working in a person-centered role where you have had an impact on and contributed to improving their life. You also need to have superb communication and interpersonal skills. You will have a keen eye for detail with the ability to frequently work to tight deadlines. You will ideally understand the rights and needs of people with a learning disability and have an idea of the structure of learning disability services and the support that is provided.
A FULL valid driver’s licence, with access to a vehicle you can use for business purposes, is essential to be considered for this post. You must be willing to travel across your geographical area with occasional overnight stays further afield in the UK when required. Mileage will be paid for by Mencap.
