Mechanical Design Engineer - Mechanical Hardware Team
Skills that would be desirable:
1. Testing and validation of products
2. FEA - Thermal / Vibration Analysis
3. CAD - NX or Solidworks
Within the Electronics Engineering team, develops mechanical designs to fulfil customer and legislative requirements in a challenging context of high-volume manufacturing, high quality, and harsh environment. Electronic Control Unit products are for use in our current portfolio and for future propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop new mechanical designs for ECU:
o Evaluate customer and internal requirements and identify gaps to current products
o Prepare product designs to meet internal and customer requirements
o Select appropriate material
o Create and maintain Mechanical DFMEA
o Apply BOD, BOP and defined engineering standards procedures and methodologies to execute project activities
o Release design documentation
o Support Validation teams during Design Validation and Process Validation phases
o Support Manufacturing Development teams located in the Manufacturing Plants
o Prepare reports, technical presentations and status for internal and customer use
o Ensure reports and presentations include clear analysis and summaries for decision making
o Define, prioritize and execute tasks required to meet project objectives (cost, quality and timing)
o Escalate risks and issues to core team members and management in a timely manner
o Apply problem solving in the execution of project activities
o Maintain and update BOD guidelines
o Ensure that designs meet cost targets, manufacturability requirements and EOL recycling targets
• Develop and maintain test equipment, tools and processes in line with required automotive standards
What are we looking for:
• Analytical ability and attention to details
• Experience with DFMEA
• Experience with effective problem-solving methodologies
• Software tools: MS Office, CAD programs (NX, SolidWorks), Simulation tools (ANSYS Stress and Thermal analysis)
• Fluent in English speaking and writing
• Ability to communicate
• Ability to work to deadlines when required.
Experience and Qualifications required
• University Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or suitable equivalent qualification and experience
• Experience of automotive electronics hardware development is a plus
