Our Graduates into Teaching Pathway offers an exceptional opportunity to gain paid, hands-on experience as a Teaching Assistant in schools across Durham. This tailored programme provides a clear route into education, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to take the next step towards teacher training.
- Support pupils both in small groups and one-to-one across secondary, SEN, and primary schools.
- Work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
- Gain practical classroom experience while developing essential skills in behaviour management, lesson planning, and pupil support.
- Be placed in schools close to your home for convenience.
- A degree in any subject with a minimum 2:2 classification (or predicted).
- GCSEs in Maths and English at grade C/4 or above.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude in a fast-paced school environment.
- A genuine passion for education and working with young people.
- Two referees we can contact as part of the application process.
- A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
