The role
Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a rewarding career? If yes, then United Utilities (UU) have exciting opportunities for you to join our teams across multiple locations in the North West of England. As Quantity Surveyor you will lead and support one of several business-critical teams, managing a multitude of responsibilities including contract management, risk analysis, supplier collaboration and commercial operations.
Stakeholder collaboration is vital for this role. You will need to build strong working relationships, manage key internal and external stakeholders effectively and ensure a full business partnering model, whilst maximising value.
Key accountabilities
1. Ensure contractual compliance and proactively manage contractor performance throughout the contract period.
2. Provide commercial expertise and guidance.
3. Commercially manage a portfolio of Works contracts to ensure compliance with contracted terms and conditions.
4. Manage post-contract commercial processes and procedures.
5. Negotiate and resolve contract claims/disputes.
Skills & experience
To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria:
1. Quantity Surveying degree or equivalent; alternatively sufficient relevant experience to support the requirements of the RICS Professional Experience Route.
2. Knowledge of key quantity surveying processes, tools and methodologies used across the whole project life-cycle.
3. Knowledge and experience in the use of a broad range of standard forms of construction contract (preferably including NEC suite of contracts).
4. Strong commercial negotiation and resolution skills.
5. Experience of managing the commercial function on projects.
6. Experience of line management.
7. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
8. Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office or equivalent.
9. Full UK Driving License.
