National Timber Group is looking to appoint a Transport Manager for our England division, to help drive performance and standards, whilst ensuring we provide a great customer experience.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is pivotal in raising the efficiency of how the transport function operates as well as ensuring a continued focus on Health and Safety compliance.
As part of the senior management team, you will work closely with the Regional Directors, Regional Operations Managers and Branch management, to continuously improve our levels of compliance and deliver a first-class service to our internal and external customers.
We are searching for someone with relevant experience of a multi-site operation, ideally in a merchant environment. You will need to show motivation and drive. You will be an approachable and hands on leader that supports and develops their colleagues.

What You will Do
O licence: compliance and management
Drivers: Manage the Group working time directive and ensure drivers are suitable trained and licenced. Monitor licence checks.
Vehicle management: Ensuring vehicles are safe and reliable and that they comply with safety regulations. Assist with obtaining a national parts and labour agreement for the Group. Assisting with complex vehicle repairs with sufficient mechanical knowledge be able to negotiate with service providers to ensure the company obtains the best options and prices.
Accreditation: management of FORS and CLOCS accreditation
Group management: Champion Transport for the Group by upskilling regional and local site teams as legislation changes and new colleagues join the business to continually improve performance. Coordinate regional Driver CPC training as and when required.
Conduct risk assessments of transport systems
What We are Looking For
· Proven experience in managing transport operations within a multisite operation.
· Strong understanding of road transport legislation and regulations.
· Experience in Managing FORS and CLOCS accreditations.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
