Location: Chilthorne Domer, near Yeovil
Salary: £32,000 p.a. pro rata
Working hours: 21 hours per week, flexible hours to be agreed - Term Time Only
Working arrangement: Office based with significant outreach work
School in a Bag is a UK based charity that provides bright red rucksacks full of essential resources that enable poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children worldwide to write, draw, colour, calculate, express themselves, eat, drink, wash and above all, learn.
Each year the charity’s trading company School in a Bag Trading Ltd, run Home Farm Festival, a three day family music festival based at our home in Chilthorne Domer. This forms a major part of the work of the office between May to the middle of June.
It is an exciting time for the charity, our trustees want to grow our activities and maximise the potential of the trading company which involves bringing in new staff, developing new ideas and making a bigger difference to children around the world.

Key Responsibilities
1. To lead on the engagement and development of relationships with schools and the education sector to enable the charity to meet its strategic goals, business and financial strategies.
2. Relationships
o To engage schools and school personnel in the School in a Bag programme.
o To serve as an advisor and liaison to schools and teachers and provide them with the resources and support needed to implement the School in a Bag programme.
o To develop the place of the charity within the curriculum, educational landscape and wider context in which schools and the educational system sits.
o To engage schools in fundraising initiatives for School in a Bag to achieve individual and group fundraising goals.
o To develop and deliver presentations and workshops for school audiences – both staff and pupils.
o To identify school needs and work with the wider School in a Bag team to develop solutions.
o To work with the SIAB team to develop and deliver a programme of support for partner schools across the world.
3. Outreach
o To design and execute an annual communication and engagement strategy for schools, including email, phone, Zoom and other electronic means as well as in-person meetings where possible.
o To attend and contribute to the planning and organisation of all conferences, events and speaking engagements, as they pertain to the work of schools and the education sector.
o To attend external conferences and events to represent and promote the work of School in a Bag and engage new donors and partners.
o To promote the work of School in a Bag at the annual fundraiser Home Farm Festival.
4. Project Management
o To liaise with other team members to monitor stock relating to SchoolBags and bag packing opportunities to ensure sufficient quantities are available when required.
o To develop and manage an online shared resource portal for UK and overseas partner schools and educational establishments.
o To work with the charity’s CRM system, ensuring all information relating to school contacts is kept up-to-date and accurate and that engagement and activity is recorded appropriately.
o To prepare and provide regular reports on the status of schools’ work and activities in line with KPIs and targets set.
o To work with the SIAB team to implement consistent monitoring and evaluation measures relating to the impact of school actions across all programmes and campaigns using both quantitative and qualitative information.
o To work with the SIAB team to build impact stories and school profiles throughout the academic year to inspire other schools and support funder reporting and marketing and communications initiatives.
5. To deliver against the key performance indicators for the position.
* To support fundraising targets for the organisation
* To support HFF Ticket Sale and income targets
* To support School in a Bag Trading Ltd trading income targets
* To provide excellent customer service and engagement with donors, partners, groups and organisations
* To support the charity’s attendance at conferences and events to promote the work of School in a Bag.
* To work as part of a team to contribute to the work of the charity and the trading company, School in a Bag Trading Ltd and any other duties as reasonably required.
Requirements, Skills and Expertise
* Proven experience or working within a school or educational environment
* Experience of presenting to audiences and groups of people
* Understanding of the schools network and communication methods
* Experience of developing educational resources
* Good verbal communications skills and an ability to relate to a wide range of people.
* Ability to travel to meetings and events when required including overnight stays, possible weekends and evenings
* Good IT and keyboard skills; Office 365, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
* Ability to co-ordinate and prioritise own workload.
