About this opportunity
Cumberland Council is a dynamic and innovative organisation committed to leveraging technology to drive efficiency and growth. We are currently seeking a skilled ICT Infrastructure engineer to join our team and play a vital role in managing and optimising our Systems infrastructure.
As an Infrastructure engineer, you will work with the team responsible for the design, implementation and management of our organisation's Systems infrastructure. This role involves hands-on management of Systems infrastructure, ensuring the stability, performance and security of our systems.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
* Strong technical knowledge and proven experience of server infrastructure.
* Experience with security protocols, risk management, and compliance standards.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan, design, and implement on-premises and cloud-based IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage, and network systems.
* Manage and maintain physical and virtual servers, including operating systems (Windows, Linux), services like Azure, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP along with Cisco UCS and VMware.
* Perform regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades to infrastructure components, ensuring they are secure, optimized, and up-to-date with the latest technologies.
* Ensure infrastructure security by applying best practices, implementing firewalls, antivirus solutions, and patch management, and adhering to compliance standards.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and trusted 3rd party providers to assess infrastructure requirements and provide scalable solutions.
* Use monitoring tools to assess system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement measures to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
* Develop and test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans to ensure data protection and rapid recovery in case of system failure.
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies and upgrades to enhance infrastructure capabilities.
* Document infrastructure configurations, procedures, and best practices for reference and training purposes.
