Senior Care Assistant for 33 hours per week
Shifts 8am - 8pm including weekends
Must hold or be working towards NVQ Level 3 in Adult Social Care
Job Purpose:
To ensure that the people we support receive the highest standard of outcome-based care whilst promoting the individuals’ wellbeing. To do this with sensitivity to preserve the dignity, privacy, choice, independence, fulfilment and rights of the people we support. To support Team Lead(s) to effectively manage and monitor the staff team in its entirety. To give the people we support the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices.
Accountabilities:
1. Delivering the highest standard of quality care to all people we support.
2. Responsible for ensuring that all care delivered by staff team is in line with current procedures, and all relevant professional codes of practice.
3. Ensure that all Safeguarding and Protection of the Person requirements are adhered to and clear reporting is timely managed.
4. Effectively communicate any changes to individual care needs, updating and reviewing care plans to meet needs and report to the team and home manager.
5. Work flexibly and responsively as necessary to meet the needs of the service requirements, including nights and weekends.
6. Adhere strictly to the Company’s information governance policies & procedures, protecting confidential information at all times.
7. Promote anti-discriminatory practice.
8. Encourage and assist the people we support to achieve optimum independence, ensuring that all care plans and risk assessments reflect this.
9. Administration of medicines management.
10. Manage GP, allied health professionals and hospital appointments referrals and rounds.
11. Management of care plans and risk assessments.
12. Support new admissions and complete the admission process over a 24-hour period including weekends.
13. Ensure Health and Safety legislation is adhered to at all times and any concerns are dealt with appropriately or escalated as per Company procedure.
14. Participate in the Company’s On-Call rota to offer advice & guidance, provide cover and deliver care as required when visits cannot be assigned, and during on-call hours.
Managing Employees and Their Performance:
1. Support and mentor new members of staff through shadowing duties during induction.
2. Responsible for introducing and briefing care workers to the people we support and colleagues, ensuring effective communication and supporting continuity of care.
3. Delegate duties and manage allocation based upon skill mix.
4. Manage daily care notes, nutrition, hydration, and pressure area care management.
Managing Stakeholders and Their Requirements:
1. Build good working relationships with Local Authorities, Agencies, and peer groups to support the development of the Company.
2. Support and undertake regular face-to-face or telephone reviews as per Company procedure, with the people we support.
3. Support the manager in being the point of contact for social workers and be present at all reviews where required.
Occasionally, You May Be Required To:
1. Undertake other duties as requested by the manager on the allocation sheet.
2. Participate in the quality audit systems.
Person Specification:
The post holder will be a person-centred individual with an ‘enabler’ attitude, a passion for developing their team and the Company overall while delivering the highest standard of care & support. Demonstrating strong communication skills, the post holder will be able to motivate, influence, and negotiate, while showing a high level of initiative and empathy when working with the people we support. The post holder will be based at a service but may at times be required to support other services within a defined radius of their work base.

* Full UK Driving License preferred.
