Specialty Registrar ST1 & ST3+ (LAT) in Ophthalmology
Ref: SM208938
£45,504 - £71,550
Applications are invited for the above Locum Appointment for Training (LAT) ST1+ and ST3+ level posts, based at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Post 1 is available 1st June 2025 to 30th May 2026. Post 2 is available 6th August 2025 to 4th August 2026.
The posts offer excellent training in all aspects of Ophthalmology. There is an active teaching programme. ST training onwards consists of “themed” 6-month blocks and may be tailored to the training needs of the more senior LAT trainee. The LAT trainee will use the RCOphth e-portfolio and participate in normal training with an educational supervisor and clinical supervisors in each subspecialty.
The Postgraduate Dean confirms that this placement and/or programme has the required educational and Postgraduate Dean's approval.
The weekly programme can be flexible to allow specific subspecialty experience in areas that will address deficiencies in the training for the more senior trainee, in order to provide the successful candidate the opportunity to gain CCT/CESR.
Applicants should have completed general professional training and it is desired that successful candidates will hold the MRCOphth or equivalent qualification, or new-style Part 1 FRCOphth.
It is likely that the University of Aberdeen will offer Honorary Status.
Applicants may be eligible for excess travel and relocation expenses. Information regarding nationally agreed excess travel and relocation are contained in NHS Circular PCS(DD) 2010/8.
