Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a permanent, fulltime post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Sunday (rotational). Part time hours will be considered and can be discussed at interview.
Following a recent retiral, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Emergency Department of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. This role is for Band 3 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW).
The Emergency department is a dynamic and evolving specialty. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic HCSW’s to join our amazing team. Successful applicants should be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team in order to deliver a high standard of patient focused care. The post is ideally suited to someone who can bring clinical experience and knowledge. Applicants from all nursing support backgrounds will be considered if the applicant can demonstrate transferrable skills.
You should have previous experience as a ward-based Healthcare support worker at Band 2/3 with a proven record of development within the role. Vital sign recording, ECG recording and phlebotomy skills are desirable but not essential for this post. You will need to work independently and have the ability to work flexibly under pressure. An ability to prioritise your own workload is crucial. Previous hospital or caring experience is essential. You will be fully supported through induction, ECG training, venepuncture and cannulation skills if not already done so and in return must be committed to be motivated in your own professional development.
Applicants should have high professional standards and excellent communication skills. Applicants will be self-motivated ready to develop their clinical skills within a supportive department with existing strong leadership.
