What sets us apart
Our ECC department consists of 5 daytime vets, including ECC and Medicine Advanced Practitioners, one of whom will be going onto maternity leave. We are supported by a fantastic team of dedicated surgical nurses, including several certificate and diploma holders. We are a friendly, sociable team with a good work ethic and great teamwork. Night-time cover is provided by other colleagues within the team.
In addition to the surgical department, we have highly experienced medicine, cardiology, surgery, and neurology departments, including an ultrasonographer and radiographer. As well as ECC, we offer referrals in soft tissue surgery including laparoscopy and thoracoscopy, orthopaedics including total hip replacements, neurology/neurosurgery, internal medicine, oncology, and cardiology.
Our ECC department provides a 24-hour service, taking ECC referrals and providing care to inpatients in need of critical care, and emergency OOH cover for other local practices, ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care regardless of the time of day or night.
We offer excellent facilities, including a 1.5T MRI, 160 slice Canon CT, fluoroscopy, laparoscopy/thoracoscopy, arthroscopy, flexible and rigid endoscopy, digital radiography, and an in-house laboratory. The ECC department has a dedicated workspace and equipment, and our clinical team undertakes regular RECOVER CPR training.
Our hospital is located just outside Newcastle-upon-Tyne, within easy reach of the city as well as being close to the stunning Northumberland coastline and the Northumberland National Park, making it an ideal location for those of us with a love of the outdoors.
