Job description
As a Senior/Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Requirements and Acceptance ), you will have the opportunity to work on one of a variety of our programmes, helping us to design, develop, integrate, manage and support systems for in-build or in-service vessels.
Our broad range of Systems teams cover all aspects of the products design throughout its lifecycle implementing a variety of tool and techniques tailored to support the specialist requirements of our products. From Agile methodologies to a Model Based Approach to Systems Engineering we are keen in maintaining our role as a leader in the field of Defence engineering by investing in our people.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior/Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Requirements and Acceptance) will involve:
1. Understanding our customers' challenging needs and undertaking requirements elicitation and communication
2. Leading, facilitating and supporting the requirements change management process(es)
3. Deriving functional requirements for systems, sub-systems and components
4. Providing assurance of functionally coherent designs
5. Supporting the design certification process
6. Taking accountability for technical work packages
7. Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to other engineers
8. Steering new systems development through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes
9. Working with customers to support delivered systems and resolve issues
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior/Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Requirements and Acceptance):
Essential:
Degree level qualification in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science) or equivalent industry / armed forces experience.
Significant experience in Requirements elicitation and management and/or design certification and acceptance of complex products and systems.
Significant experience of using requirements management tools (DOORs, Cradle etc)
Understanding of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
Desirable:
Experience undertaking other Systems Engineering activities. This should include some combination of:
10. Systems Integration, Verification and Validation
11. Systems Architecting via Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) (Sparx Enterprise Architect, Cameo, UML, SysML, MoDAF, NAF, UAF)
12. Implementing and Governing Engineering Lifecycles
13. Defining and managing System interfaces

You will be self-motivated and a proactive individual, able to analyse complex problems and work autonomously and in a structured manner. You will have excellent communications skills with an ability to liaise with a broad range of stakeholders and will be capable of supervising others.
