Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Commodity and Supplier Performance Manager to join our team responsible for managing the strategic development and performance improvement of the Supply Chain at our Staverton site. Including developing and implementing commodity strategies and managing a team of Supplier Performance Engineers. This role will be based at our Staverton site. The Role: As a Commodity and Supplier Performance Manager you will be responsible for the overall strategy, performance and risk management of the supply chain in your assigned commodities. This is a key position in the business responsible for the identification and development of vendors, analysis and negotiation of portfolios to optimise Ontic’s total acquisition cost. You will need to develop open, honest, long-lasting relationships with key decision makers within the supply chain to drive continuous improvement to maintain a market leading supply chain. You will play a critical role in enabling the efficient and effective performance of our suppliers working to monitor, evaluate, and improve their performance to enhance the overall supply chain efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of aerospace industry requirements, strong analytical skills, and the ability to build collaborative relationships with suppliers. Main Responsibilities: Define and drive Commodity Sourcing strategies for the assigned commodities to deliver Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives aligned to the business and Customer requirements. Monitor the supply market and provide subject matter expertise for developments within the market, technology and capability changes to ensure a strong knowledge base to; develop commodity strategy, negotiate with suppliers and deliver the lowest total acquisition costs. Drive the delivery of annual cost saving initiatives for the commodity and negotiate Long Term Agreements to support the developed commodity strategy. Develop the supplier base through clear performance monitoring, improvement plans and risk mitigation. Collaborate with suppliers to develop and implement improvement plans to address performance gaps and enhance overall efficiency. Manage a team of Supplier Performance Engineers to drive performance improvement plans to deliver sustained improvements in line with the commodity strategy and business needs. Participate and support the global commodity sourcing team to ensure commodity knowledge and business requirements are aligned to group initiatives. Define, lead and execute supplier rationalisation programmes in line with Commodity strategies. Conduct regular performance reviews to build supplier relationships and identify areas of improvement and adherence to contractual obligations. Participation in improvement activities at department/company level to enhance business performance. Comply with all relevant internal rules, policy and procedures, including those relating to Health and Safety, Data Protection and all those contained within the issued Employee Handbook and Policies and Procedures Manual. Undertake other duties and tasks that may be allocated that are appropriate to the job or that may be required to support business needs. Educational Background: 7 years of experience in a purchasing role including Commodity Management and Supplier Performance Management roles. Professional training such as CIPS level 4 or equivalent qualification from a recognised educational academic board or equivalent professional experience. Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering or a related field from an accredited university. Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Excellent negotiation, organisational and communication skills Commercially minded with an ability to deliver “outside of the box” solutions to commercial problems. Strong Contract writing and negotiation skills Strong IT skills, including working knowledge of MS office and ERP systems (Syteline preferred but not essential) Capability to work independently and as part of a team cross functionally and within the function demonstrating respect and understanding. Experience in manufacturing, service or maintenance environment Strong understanding of aerospace supply chain processes, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
