We have exciting opportunities for nurses or midwives to work in centres across Oxford, Aylesbury and Reading.
We are looking for nurses/ midwives who can deliver safe and effective care of clients wanting to access consultation for unplanned pregnancy, surgical and medical abortions, contraception and sexual health services for women.
You will need to be able to fulfil an integral role within our multidisciplinary team delivering a confidential abortion service. You will need to be motivated, enthusiastic, caring and empathetic. Pro-choice is a must.
Main duties of the job
1. To deliver safe and effective care of patients from admission to discharge in accordance with Healthcare Commission Standards, NMC Guidelines for Professional Practice and company policies and procedures.
2. Ensure the clients are aware of their options.
3. Undertaking consultations including the discussion and confirmation of treatment options.
4. Discuss contraceptive options and provide/fit contraception in accordance with guidelines NUPAS policies.
5. Appropriately consenting clients for treatment/procedures.
6. Provide and inform clients on STI Screening.
7. Identify safeguarding concerns.
8. Checking details on client notes and alerting Doctor/surgeon/anaesthetist to any significant conditions.
9. Ensuring clients are informed about aftercare prior to discharge.
10. Providing confidential telephone advice for clients with post-operative problems following discharge.
11. Completion of contemporaneous client records, consent and registers.
This is a hybrid role with a combination of working in clinic and working from home providing telephone consultations. Working one in four Saturdays.

Qualifications
* Current Nurse and or Midwifery Council NMC registration as a Registered Nurse Sub part 1 of the NMC register Registered Midwife. Up to date knowledge and experience of working in a sexual health TOP or Gynaecological service.
* Current Nurse or Midwife NMC registration as a Registered Nurse Sub part 1 of the NMC register Registered Midwife.
* Faculty of Reproductive Sexual Healthcare FSRH Letter of Competence in intrauterine techniques i.e. IUS and or IDU fitter and Insertion and removal of Subdermal Implants. SDI Recognised qualification in Independent/Supplementary Prescribing. Ultra sound scanning experience in first and second stage trimester. Ultrasound Scanning (t/a and t/v). If you are also qualified in ultrasound scanning, you will be eligible for an enhanced rate of pay to carry out scans.
