Job summary
Longfield Medical Centre in Maldon are looking for a permanent healthcare assistant (HCA) to join the practice on a part or full-time basis.
Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse, and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, you will assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Main duties of the job
1. Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
2. New patient health checks.
3. Re-stocking andstock rotationof surgical equipment and vaccines.
4. Clear and re-stock consulting rooms.
5. Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations.
6. Provide valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families and carers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
7. Successful completion of the Care Certificate, or willingness to undertake, as indicated by the CQC;
8. Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent;
Desirable
9. A qualification in phlebotomy/venepuncture;
Experience
Essential
10. Strong clinical skills;
11. Confidence and competence in all HCA duties required for the post;
12. Experience within primary care or another healthcare setting;
13. Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills;
14. Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues;
15. Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
16. Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
17. Experience of working within a GP practice.
