Overview
The post holder will be enthusiastic about delivering high quality fundamental care to patients under the guidance of a Registered Practitioner in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner.
• Acting always in the patient’s best interests
• Protecting and maintaining the patient’s privacy and dignity at all times
• Providing individualised care respecting personal beliefs and preferences
• Alerting the Registered Practitioner to any change or concern relating to the welfare of a patient in a timely manner
Clinical Responsibilities
• Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by caring for all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, compassion and courtesy in accordance with the Trust values.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, relatives and colleagues utilising verbal and non-verbal communication methods.
• Actively involve the patient in decision making around their care and recognise the importance of placing them at the centre of their care.
• Assist male and female patients to meet their hygiene and toileting needs whilst promoting independence where possible.
• Monitor and record body waste clearly and accurately as directed by the Registered Practitioner.
• Assist patients with eating and drinking to ensure their nutritional and hydration needs are met. Monitor nutritional and fluid intake clearly and accurately as directed by the Registered Practitioner.
