Job Description:
Software Engineer
Hybrid - Newcastle
A well-established Tech Consultancy based in Newcastle is looking for a couple of skilled Senior Software Engineers (ideally with experience using Java and Angular) to join several of their Agile squads. They’re offering the opportunity to work with a modern tech stack, building scalable greenfield solutions in a fun and flexible work environment.
They have a busy pipeline of projects and strong relationships with clients across multiple sectors (Fintech, Renewables, Oil & Gas, Public, and many more). It’s a unique environment where Engineers can choose projects and technologies, which is reflected in the long tenure of many team members.
Currently, they have a couple of requirements to join an Agile squad working on a core project for a key client using Java and Angular. They are looking for Engineers comfortable with these technologies, although the organization is generally tech agnostic. It’s a great environment for learning different technologies, including Python, .Net, TypeScript, and Cloud Services (AWS and Azure).
You’ll join a squad of 4-6 Engineers and typically work on a project from its initial design to completion, gaining exposure to large-scale projects. Each team usually includes a Project Lead, Software Architect, Front-End, Back-End or Full Stack Engineers, UX Specialists, Automation Engineers, and DevOps Engineers.
What sets them apart from other consultancies is that you’ll never be offshored to their client. You’ll work within the business at all times (either onsite or at home). They have a strict no-overtime policy to ensure a healthy work-life balance, with no tight deadlines or late nights. They also offer flexible working arrangements, accommodating family needs like school drop-offs or mid-day nursery appointments. The company hosts multiple events, from guest speakers to weekly lunch treats for the team!
Their office is centrally located in Newcastle, easily accessible by public transport. They hope team members can come into the office once a week for SPRINTS, meetings, and tech events, but they are flexible with this.
They offer a competitive salary for this role (more than happy to discuss figures before submitting an application), along with a competitive benefits package, including an annual training allowance, good pension, and a rewarding holiday scheme.
If you meet most of the criteria, please apply or reach out to Molly Candlish at Cathcart Technology for more information.
