The role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate. Birmingham City Council is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Children and Families Directorate as New to Birmingham Coordinators. In this vital role, you will be part of a dynamic team working to identify and engage with children, young people and their families, ensuring they have access to education and are safeguarded from exploitation. If you have a strong background in casework, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to safeguarding, we want to hear from you As a New to Birmingham Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting families who are new to the city. You will work closely with national migration agencies, NGOs, and community members to encourage the uptake of school places and ensure that all young people receive the education they deserve. Your responsibilities will include visiting families, liaising with schools, and providing advice and support to parents and other agencies involved. Your efforts will help foster good relationships and achieve positive educational outcomes for the children in our community. We are looking for candidates with at least two years of experience in schools, youth services, social care, or local authority services. You should be comfortable working within statutory timescales and have experience with computerised systems and data analysis. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be producing professional documents and participating in multi-agency meetings. A thorough knowledge of safeguarding practices and the ability to work under pressure are also key requirements for this role.
