We have a diverse portfolio of projects to manage, from the back office software that needs to move to commercial of the shelf (COTS) solutions, data and technology requirements to support our projects that gather additional data from our participants; to the upgrade of our Research Data Environment. We have over 30PB of data that needs to be served to researcher customers in a safe manner and migration from legacy systems to a complex cloud environment. This will form the basis of our Trusted Researcher Environment / Secure Data Environment. These diverse projects require diverse project management skills. To be successful, you must be able to adopt a hands on approach to getting things done to ensure the various demands of projects and stakeholders are met. Can you do it? The answer is yes, if you have strong background within IT Project Management or System Implementaton. The key responsibilities are; Working within UKBs Project Management Governance to ensure that all assigned projects are progressed appropriately through all phases (scoping phase to project closure) Engaging with key project stakeholders and UKB teams to develop, manage and maintain project documentation Developing and implementing a strategy to deliver COTS solutions to address the needs of the business strategy Managing cloud solution development, including hosting and implementation of tasks across the life cycle of cloud managed services, to include managing the work of architects, engineers and vendors Preparing reports, and presenting them to the relevant stakeholder groups and boards for communication and regular review and/or agreement Liaising with external suppliers or account managers as required Leading and motivating project contributors, ensuring that all involved understand their roles and responsibilities and are working effectively to deliver against the plan Working hours are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with expected minimum of 2 days per week in the office (based in Cheadle, Stockport, until 2026 when we move to Manchester Science Park). Is this 'you'? Reporting to the Head of PMO, you will have a recognised qualification in Project Management methodology (e.g. PRINCE2) and experience of; Working in a complex projects/programmes environment Working with commercial off-the-shelf products (COTS) Working within ISO (or similar) quality systems (ISO9001, 27001) Adopting a logical, structured, and methodical approach to project planning and delivery Ability to work under pressure and at pace, and exercising good judgement to manage conflicting priorities Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently Ability to communicate well and collaborate and engage effectively with a range of internal and external teams and stakeholders at all levels Ability to identify potential and actual problems that have the potential to impact on project delivery and provide appropriate solutions / mitigations Ability to influence, negotiate and reach a consensus when there are conflicting views Able to work independently and without close day-to-day supervision, reporting on progress through both formal and informal channels, and escalating issues as appropriate Our passion for diversity and equity means creating a work environment for all employees that is welcoming, respectful, engaging, and enriched with opportunities for personal and professional development.
