They are seeking a Quality Manager for their state of the art facility in Abingdon, Oxford. This is a pivotal role within the business, ideal for someone driven to lead and enhance the efficiency of the Quality Assurance department. The Quality Manager will focus on reducing non-conformance costs and driving "right-first-time" standards to achieve zero customer complaints, while also fostering a culture of total quality ownership among all employees, empowering each team member to contribute to continuous improvement.
Quality Manager Responsibilities:
Assure product quality and strive for continual total quality improvement.
Develop cost effective processes to ensure that total quality is promoted.
Maintain relevant ISO and AS EN 9100 certifications or equivalent and any other area of “best practices”.
Provide Management team support, advice and assistance on quality management and technical engineering. Practical “hands-on” approach required.
Identify quality costs, faults at final and work diligently to reduce.
Integral part of the Contract Review process pre-manufacture.
Liaise with customers and suppliers concerning drawing queries, concessions or any other problem arising within Department, in accordance with procedures. Visit customers/suppliers as directed/needed to improve relations and provide required service.
Progress Change Notes Database and timely resolutions.
Manage and undertake compilation of LTQR and QCP as per customer requirements.
Provide timely Inspection and Quality support service to operations, achieving scheduled lead-times.
All forms of inspection and testing include, i.e., 1st off Intermediate and Final Inspection and compiling analysis reports.
To supervise on inspection methods and perform, also specify and request any specialised equipment or tooling when necessary to fulfil inspection needs or improve the service provided.
Liaise with Production Associates/Operators, when necessary, on methods of rectification/re-work etc.
Provide QA training, including training of Operators in all aspects of inspection techniques and equipment, including the preparation of inspection equipment work instruction.
Produce FAIR and 8Ds and Concessions
Undertake CMM programming as required.
Assisting in the effective management of the entire measurement and test equipment calibration system. Ensure proper use through education, processes, audits (no metal -to metal contact on shopfloor, no multiple equipment…)
Managing NCR database and provide quality assurance to ensure continuous improvement.
Manage External and Internal Audits.
Quality Manager Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or relevant Qualification in Engineering (essential)
Strong engineering, drawing understanding (GD&T) (essential)
Multi year experience as a Quality Lead in a manufacturing, preferably low volume SME precision engineering or in an Nuclear/Aerospace/Automotive parts business (low volume high complexity)
Experience of working in isolation or a very small team.

Practical knowledge and experience of Machining and Assembly
