Kerry Collins Recruitment Ltd are supporting our well-established client recruit for an experienced Slaughterman on a permanent basis. Our Wolverhampton based client are a leading provider of premium quality food products, operating from a state-of-the-art abattoir and meat processing facility. They are looking for skilled and experienced Slaughterman to join the existing team, where you will play a crucial role in their abattoir and factory operation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the humane and ethical treatment of animals throughout the slaughtering process, adhering to all relevant animal welfare regulations and guidelines.
2. Perform precise and efficient slaughtering procedures, including stunning, bleeding, evisceration, and splitting, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene.
3. Inspect and assess the quality of carcasses, organs, and meat cuts to identify any defects or abnormalities. Report any issues to the supervisor.
4. Follow strict hygiene and sanitation protocols to prevent contamination and ensure food safety. Adhere to food safety guidelines.
5. Maintain and clean slaughtering equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure they are in good working condition and meet sanitation standards.
6. Accurately record data related to slaughtering processes, including weights, dates, and any relevant information for traceability and compliance purposes.
7. Work collaboratively with other team members, such as butchers, packers, and quality control staff, to ensure a smooth flow of operations.
8. Comply with all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment
Skills required:
9. Previous experience working in an abattoir or meat processing facility is preferred.
10. Knowledge of animal welfare regulations and industry standards.
11. Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
12. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
13. Willingness to work in a fast-paced, sometimes physically challenging environment.
The role of a Slaughterman is physically demanding, and you must be able to lift heavy products, comfortable working in a cold and wet environment.
