Job purpose: Reporting to the Head of Depots, the purpose of this role is to be accountable for all Leadership and management of Depot Operations in 3 key sites in our London South region. Ensuring processes are efficient to deliver commercial solutions through a highly motivated and dedicated team which in turn consistently delight our client and meet all our customer expectations. About the Role: As Area Manager – London South, you will be responsible for the performance of four of our Depots: Gatwick, Lakeside and Maidstone Each Depot has a full site-based Management team but it will be your responsibility to ensure that your Depots are performing against their operational and budgetary targets by providing leadership and direction to your Depot teams. You will also be responsible for delivering strategic improvements and deliverables for the growth of the business, being responsive and agile to operational demands, with the ability to identify issues & solutions through data and people engagement. You will manage projects that are specific to your area and also those assigned to you from our Head of Depots that will make the best use of your experience. Where necessary, you must be able to support and develop your Depot Managers, so that they are fully capable of managing their sites. Working closely with the wider business and being part of senior planning teams to ensure that your area is prepared for any increases in parcel volumes or operational change that could affect area performance or deliverables. This role is client facing (to a certain extent) so being familiar with the working practices and expectations of major e-commerce businesses would be beneficial. We cannot overstate how key this role is for our operation, you are the link between Board and Senior Leadership and Operational Management, you must be a leader who can inspire and develop staff. Alongside this very necessary skill, you ideally will have budgetary and cost control experience, a broad understanding of forecasting and volume planning tools and the ability to manage multiple sites across a broad geographic area. Experience/Qualifications: Live within the Geographical location of the designated depots Experience of working with mentoring and performance management tools to review and performance manage Problem solving and planning effective contingencies and solutions Self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative Well organised and able to prioritise workload for self and others Ability to evidence a track record of identifying opportunities for efficiency and performance improvement in depots Experience of and the ability to mentor and guide talent, nurture and identify hidden talent within depot structures Ability to be agile and act with pace, to both identify and execute Determination to deliver and succeed under pressure and resistance Responsibilities: Support the Head of Operations in delivering strategic improvements and deliverables for the growth of the business Lead the designated depot teams through the identification of issues and solutions that will drive improvements and deliver superior performance through the depots structure and processes To be responsive and agile to operational demands, with the ability to identify issues & solutions through data and people engagement Ensure operational targets are met and manage cost control effectively Flexibility to work across shifts/days, as well and team structures, to assess performance and provide analysis of corrective measure Establish high performing teams built to grow, develop and succeed in a growth and diversifying environment To develop resources within areas of accountability, managing talent and developing succession plans to ensure operational capability is sustainable as well as managing poor performance Benefits: Bonus Company Car, Car allowance 26 Days Holiday entitlement Bank Holidays Opt in benefits This is a great opportunity to be part of an exciting, forward-thinking business.
