Assistant Psychologist in NELFT CYP Intensive Community Treatment (ICT) Team.
We are looking for a Assistant Psychologist to join our well-established, innovative Nurse-led CYP ED Intensive community treatment service. This is a great opportunity to join our highly skilled, dedicated, and friendly team.
NELFT CYP Intensive community treatment service (referred to as HIVE)
The HIVE treatment model provides intensive community treatment including therapeutic and physical health support to CYP and families within the family home as an alternative to hospital admission. The HIVE team also support admissions and facilitate safe and early discharges from inpatient/hospital care when admission is clinically indicated.
The HIVE service is an 8-week programme for young people open to the Eating Disorder Service who have struggled to progress with routine treatment and require more intensive intervention to prevent further deterioration, a protracted illness, and/or hospital admission. Young People and their care givers are offered needs led, intensive community support using a blended model of F2F and virtual appointments in a variety of non-hospital settings including our clinic and family homes. Programmes are individualised and include a variety of supported meals, individual work with the YP, ongoing FBT, parent work and close physical health monitoring.
This post is a great opportunity to work with NELFT EDS CYP Intensive community treatment team, which sits alongside the core CAMHS CYP ED team. We are seeking an individual who has a keen interest in working in eating disorders and is passionate about delivering high quality, patient-led, care to young people and families.
Key Responsibilities:
To undertake, under the direct supervision of senior clinicians, protocol based psychological assessments of clients, including the use of self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
To assist in the formulation and delivery of routine care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the direct supervision of a senior clinician and MDT.
To manage an ongoing programme of audit of outcomes from treatment involving measures administered to clients and their care givers at multiple stages during their care journey.
To analyse this data and contribute to the production of reports of outcomes for the team and for commissioners.
Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement – London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
This post is a great opportunity to work with NELFT EDS CYP Intensive community treatment team, which sits alongside the core CAMHS CYP ED team. We are seeking an individual who has a keen interest in working in eating disorders and is passionate about delivering good quality, patient-led, care to young people and families.
The successful applicant will work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and will ideally have experience in working with children and young people with eating disorders and their families. The applicant will work as part of the HIVE MDT providing Intensive community support in line with the HIVE service offer to young people and families with eating disorders and comorbid presentations.
As a member of the CAMHS CYP ED HIVE team you will have access to specialist supervision. Supervision will be offered by a senior member of the team from the same discipline where possible.
As a service we have strong research links with University College London and Imperial College London. We have been the proud hosts of eight specialist Eating Disorder conferences and the successful applicant would have the opportunity to be involved in future conferences.
We appreciate that eating disorders can be a rewarding and challenging field to work in, even for those with experience, therefore, as well as excellent supervision and reflective practice sessions, we provide the opportunity to develop skills through joint working, access to internal training, CPD and external training courses. As an expanding service there is opportunity for progression within the team and input into service development.
We cover a large geographical area from our main base in Barking and have satellite clinics in Havering and Waltham Forest. The role will involve a mixture of remote and face to face working, including offering meal support in their home and local acute hospitals. We recognise that working within the NHS can be highly pressurised and there is a priority within the team to ensure that team members are supported to have a good work/life balance with flexibility around family friendly hours where possible.
