Job Description
We are seeking a Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Mechanical Treatment Plant. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth and safe running of the plant, while upholding our high standards in health, safety, and environmental compliance. You will be responsible for managing a team of operators, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining a safe working environment.
* Location: Allerton Waste Recovery Park, Moor Lane, Knaresborough, HG5 0SD
* Work pattern: Monday - Friday
o Week 1: 6am - 2pm
o Week 2: 2pm - 10pm
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the daily operations of the Mechanical Treatment Plant, ensuring smooth and efficient functionality.
* Supervise and lead the Mechanical Treatment Day Operators, fostering a productive team environment.
* Ensure compliance with Thalia’s Health & Safety and Environmental Policies at all times.
* Report any Health & Safety or Environmental issues promptly and take necessary action.
* Manage risk assessments and ensure procedures align with British Standards Institute (BSI) regulations.
* Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintain accurate daily logs.
* Manage third-party contracts, including off-takes, as required by the Operations Manager.
* Ensure that Safety Systems of Work (SSOW) are adhered to across the plant.
* Attend mandatory meetings and complete line manager actions related to HSEQ investigations.
* Be trained to operate the Anaerobic Digestion Plant and weighbridge.
Qualifications (Desirable but not essential):
* WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence or equivalent
* IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
* First Aid at Work certification
* Harness Awareness, IPAF 3A/3B certification On-the-job training will be provided where needed.
Skills & Experience:
* Experience working in the waste industry or experience working with mobile plant operators.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems.
* Strong people management skills with the ability to lead and make decisions within defined limits of authority.
* Knowledge of mobile plant machinery.

* Strong organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
* Flexible and willing to work weekends.
