Your role is all about turning our homes back into a great ‘blank slate’ ready for our engineer teams to come in, repair and get
them ready for the next customer. You’ll take pride in a job well done, knowing that you’ve been part of the journey in making a
house a home.
This is a fixed term position until 31/3/2025 - 40 hours per week.
As a Clearance Technician, a typical day might include:
* Clearing empty properties, including inside and outside of the property, garages, lofts, cellars and any other outbuildings
* Clearing estate areas
* Safely and appropriately removing and disposing of electrical items, white goods, soft and hard furnishings and any other
contents of cupboards and rooms, including perishable items
* Clearing internal and external walls of graffiti, rubbish, dirt, grease and similar, including removing nails, pins and the
like
* Removing carpets, laminate flooring, lino or similar floor coverings, including associated items such as stair carpet grippers
* Taking down and disposing of sheds, greenhouses, coal bunkers or similar temporary outbuildings
* Refilling empty ponds
* Ensuring the property and grounds are left in a clean, tidy and rubbish free state, including ensuring gardens are left
well-tended and in a good and safe state Ensuring estates are left in a clean, tidy and rubbish free state Gritting communal
areas in poor weather or as required Ensuring sparkle cleans are undertaken as requested by the Empty Properties Coordinator or
Repairs and Empty Properties Supervisor
The must haves:
* Previous experience in a similar role
* Experience of handling large volumes of bulky and heavy waste
* Knowledge of basic repairs such as simple joinery
* Knowledge and use of basic tools, to aid in the removal of rubbish and the takedown of buildings
* An understanding of handling simple hazardous waste (non-licensed) and how to safely manage this
* A customer focused attitude, you’ll be an essential part of our team and this will show in your positive and helpful way of
working
* A strong awareness of health and safety and the drive to keep this front and center in all you do. Empty properties can be full
of surprises and we want you to always get home safely
The added extras:
* You’re qualified to undertake needle & sharps removal and disposal; blood removal and bodily fluid disposal; and handling and
disposal of other hazardous wastes in accordance with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002
* You have the knowledge and are qualified to undertake asbestos removal
